Poongar rice is one of the traditional rice varieties from Tamil Nadu. It is a Pesticide and Chemical Free Rice. This rice is reddish in color Famously known as The Women Rice – Good for women, especially during pregnancy. Poongar rice is highly recommended for pregnant women, lactating mothers, and young children as it provides strength to the body. It resolves hormonal issues in women. It is normally given to them in the form of Kanji (Porridge). Vitamin B1 is abundantly present in this type of rice which helps in preventing stomach problems and ulcers. This rice is rich in essential minerals like Iron, Zinc, Molybdenum, Manganese, Phosphorous, and Magnesium.
How to cook - Mix 2tsp of Health mix in 200ml of water without lumps. Cook the mixture on a medium flame for 10 mins. Before turning off the flame add half a cup of boiled milk and cook for 2 more minutes. Add Country sugar/ salt as per your taste and serve hot
Alternatively, Can be mixed with dosa batter or chappati dough for a healthy tasty twist.
